He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Albert Phillips and Ethel Williamson Phillips; his wife Barbara Goodman Phillips; and his children, James Rodney Phillips and Joy Deborah Phillips.
He is survived by: his sons, John Dale Phillips (Gayle) and Joseph Carlton Phillips (Rebecca); and his close friend Shirley Fulk. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at 700 S Holden Rd, Greensboro, NC 27407.
