He is survived by: his wife Cheyenne Gant Chavis; his daughters, LaShanda Gant Poteat and Sherea Chantel Chavis; his grandchildren, Maliek Poteat, Kendra Poteat and Julien Poteat; and his siblings, Rollins Chavis (Helen), Elaine C. Turner (Kenneth), LaVerne Boone (Ronnie), Martha Royster (Sterling) and Beverly Arrington (David). He is also survived by nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
