He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Hall Fortner of Spruce Pine; his sons, Charles Fortner (Kim) of Conover, NC and Bryan Fortner; his close friend Tabitha of Spruce Pine; his daughter Catherine Boone (Derrick) of Spruce Pine; his grandchildren, Tyler Boone, Cadee Boone and Hayden Fortner; his sister Lila Bailey of Sumter, SC; his sister-in-law Janet Fortner of Indianapolis, IN; and his close friend Albert Thomas.
