He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Litschert and Ruth Leopold Litschert; his children, Meg and Dave; and his granddaughter Missy.
He is survived by: his children, John Litschert, II of West Jefferson, Brandy and Barbara Litschert of Charlotte; and his grandsons, Tom Miner II and Dave Miner. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
