He was predeceased by: his parents, John Baker and Elma Baker; his wife Shirley McKinney Baker; and his siblings, John Baker Jr. and Ernie Pope.
He is survived by: his children, Vernon Baker, Jr. (Barbara) and Sharon Baker; his brother Harry Baker (Melba); his grandchildren, Stephanie Greene, Craig Laughinghouse, Adam Baker, Carson Baker and Daniel Baker; and his great grandchildren, Deven Jordan, Tyler Jordan, Shane Greene, Mia Greene and Harlie Nethercutt.
