He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Meekins; his parents, William Albert Meekins and Annie I. Tucker Meekins; and his granddaughter Jennifer Tooker. He is survived by: his children, Lawrence Meekins, Jr. (Jeri) of New Bern, Peggy Meekins Rouse of Oriental and Betty Jean Tooker (Jimmy) of Ernul; his sister Ellen Meekins of Rocky Mount; and his grandchildren, Kimberly Eyler, Lisa Gaskins, Ricky Jordan, Lainey Meekins and Savanna Meekins. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
