He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Howell and Cleo Osborne Howell; and his siblings, Paul Edward Howell, Margaret H. Blickley, Pauline Edmiston, Faye H. Storie, Pansy H. Scruggs and Phyllis H. Woods.
He is survived by: his wife Sonja Severt Edmondson Howell; his son Terry H. Howell of Charlotte, NC; the mother of his child Evelyn Setzer Howell Kirby of Lenoir; his siblings, Brenda H. Yates (Milton) of North Wilkesboro, NC, Herbert Howell (Kaye) of Lenoir and Jerry Howell (Beth) of Charlotte; and his nephews, Caden, Caleb Crow, Alex Cady and Oscar Schmidt.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to Baton United Methodist Church, 1034 Dry Ponds Rd., Granite Falls, NC 28630.
