She was predeceased by: her husband J. D. Starnes; and her siblings, Jack, Owen Benfield, Mary Watson and Ann Lou Schirmer.
She is survived by: her children, Jackie "Zeb" Starnes of Granite Falls, Johnny "Peanut" Starnes of Valdese, Fonda Parsons of Granite Falls and Kim Kincaid (David) of Granite Falls; and her grandsons, Joshua Starnes, Zachary Starnes, Cole Starnes, B. J. Parsons, Justin Parsons, Jordan Starnes, Caleb Kincaid and Kyle Kincaid.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Caldwell County Hospice & Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, NC 28645.
