It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melba Jean Bright Richards Heavener of Granite Falls, North Carolina, who passed away on March 8, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifton Carl Bright and Ida Beshears Bright; her former husband Jean Clinton Richards; her husband Albert Heavener; her son Rick Richards; and her grandson Christopher Richards.
She is survived by: her son Dr. Dennis J. Richards (Jean) of Claremont, NC; her siblings, Barbara Bumgarner (Hugh) of Hudson, Paul Bright (Ellen) of Hudson, Cliff Bright Jr. (Elfreide) of Belton, S. C. and Dale Bright (Mary) of Unison, VA; and her grandchildren, Jack Richards (Kristin) of Austin, TX, Lori Richards Little (Kevin) of Claremont, Sara, Jennifer and Carrie of Boone, NC. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
