She was predeceased by: her parents, Carpenter Carpenter and Brady Carpenter; her husband Virgil Townsend Sr.; her daughter Joyce Hice; her grandchildren, Dana Pearson, Tim Hice and Chandler Aldridge; her great grandchild Adam Hice; and her siblings, Charlie David Sullivan, Fannie Eller of Bertha Peacot, J. R and Fred Carpenter.
She is survived by: her children, Libby Pope (Floyd), Teresa Townsend Aldridge and Virgil Townsend Jr. (Linda); and her grandchildren, Teena Wilds, Tammy Weaver, Tonya Bradshaw, Amanda Townsend, Jacob Townsend, Mary Katherine Aldridge and Kevin Hice. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
