He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin M. Byrd and Ruby Cockerham Byrd; his sister Becky Byrd Norman; and his nephew Terry Hutchens. He is survived by: his wife Wanda Holcomb Byrd; his daughter Tracy Byrd Mayberry (Ryan); his grandchildren, Caroline and Connor of Bethlehem, N. C.; his son Ben Richard Byrd (Angela); his grandchildren, Ethan and Thomas of Knightdale, N. C.; his sisters, Ann B. Hutchens of Lewisville and Marvorene B. Edwards (Wayne) of Winston-Salem, N. C.; and his nieces and nephews, Marlina Griewe, Linda Mason, Jan Richardson, Byron Edwards, Todd and Michael Norman.
Out of a desire to protect family and friends from the contagious Covid virus, a private family service will be held at Viewmont Baptist Church Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Dr. Andrew Rawls officiating.
