With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jerry David Abernathy (Granite Falls, North Carolina), who passed away on May 5, 2022 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Monroe Abernathy and Rosalia Abernethy; and his siblings, Clyde Abernathy (Dorothy), Joe Abernathy (Ruby), Ralph Abernathy (Mabel), Bill Abernathy, Tommy Abernathy, Albert Abernathy (Faye), Aletha McCray (Clarence) and Violet Robinette (Colin).
He is survived by: his wife Linda Hice Abernathy; his children, Kalynn Linden (Steve) of Hickory, Mark Abernathy (Kellie) of Garner, NC and Scott Abernathy (Betty) of Hickory; his grandchildren, Brianna Linden, Nicholas Linden of Charlotte, Ashley Abernathy of Garner and Aaron Abernathy of Garner; and his sisters-in-law, Hazel Abernathy and Sandy Abernathy. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Amorem Hospice, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690 or Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1787 Cajah's Mtn.
