It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Hilda Mae Benfield of Granite Falls, North Carolina, who passed away on October 2, 2020, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Victor Kirby and Antha Cook Kirby Campbell; her husband William "Ken" McKinley Benfield; her sons, Dennis McKinley Benfield and William Michael "Mike" Benfield; her brothers, Franklin George "June" Kirby and Troy Kirby; and her sister-in-law Irene.

She is survived by: her daughter Carol Crozier of Lenoir; her grandchildren, Barbara Benfield, Dawn B. Hardin (Danny), David Minton (Beth), Kenneth Hair (Jennifer), Mark Holman (Thailia), Andy Benfield (Heather) and Lee Benfield (Elizabeth); and her siblings, Libby Kirby Knight (Robert) and John Kirby (Gayle).
