He was predeceased by: his father William Fred Boger. He is survived by: his mother Sally Tompkins Boger; and his sisters, Barbara Parker, Belinda Jester and Sarah Barrick. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Following his return to North Carolina in 1990, he worked in healthcare facilities serving the Alzheimer's population, consistent with his willingness to provide care to the most vulnerable of patients.
