She was predeceased by: her parents, Ellis Hudson and Mary Fidel Rector Hudson; her former husband James A. Carver; her husband Burlis Shook; her granddaughter Renee Minton; her sons-in-law, Terry Bryant and Harold Bean; and her siblings, Oscar Hudson, Margie Brittain, Viola Hudson and Mary Pennell.
She is survived by: her children, James A. Carver, Jr. of Conover, Mary Triplett (Dee) of Granite Falls, Faye Waters (Ronnie) of Hudson, Kathy Barr (Marshall) of Lenoir, Pauline Wise (Paul) of Hickory, Rebecca "Becky" Stout (Richard) of Hickory and Eunice "Ann" Carver of Lenoir; and her sister Arlene Hudson of Morganton. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and fourteen great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
