He was predeceased by: his parents, Reese Phillips and Virginia Faye Barrett Phillips; his brother Richard Phillips; and his granddaughter Virginia Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Melissa Helms Phillips; his sons, Cody Phillips (Victoria) of Granite Falls, John Phillips (Megan) of Granite Falls and Scott Laxton (Ashley) of Taylorsville; his nephew Scott Phillips (Chasty); his grandchildren, June Everly Phillips, Beau Henry Phillips, Wilder Greyson-Wolf Laxton and Hayley Willow Laxton; his brother Randy Phillips of Lenoir; his uncle Roy Barrett of Lenoir; and his close friends, Sherrie Barrier, Lyn Powell and Steve Dula.
