He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Linda Hood; his daughters, Angela Curtis (Eugene) of Beaver and Jackie Sigmon (Jeff) of Granite Falls; his brother Burl Hood of Granite Falls; and his grandchildren, Dayton Sigmon (Trisha) of Hickory, McAndrew Noonan of Annapolis and Devin Sigmon (Kristin Fox) of Granite Falls. He was also cherished by friends and caregivers Buffy Baker and Jason Carpenter, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
