He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell Austin and Lela Sigmon Austin; his wife Betty Jo Nipp; and his siblings, Thad Austin, John Austin, Wade Austin and Reva Austin.
He is survived by: his son Rick Ruffner; his stepdaughter Norma Ruffner; his grandson Johnny Fraizer; and his nieces, Lela Teague and Debbie English. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
