It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Carlton Clark of Granite Falls, North Carolina, who passed away on February 18, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her father Nelson Carlton; her husband Coleman Haskel Clark; her sons, Curt Clark and Clayton Clark; and her siblings, Pete Carlton, Jeanette Wooten, Tom Carlton, Paulene Martin and Joe Carlton.
She is survived by: her daughters, Joan Benfield Gilbert, Sheila Starnes Townsend and Jill Clark Hart; her grandchildren, Chad Benfield (Kim), Lisa Bracken (Matthew), Jeremy Benfield and Dustin Townsend (Ameenah); her great grandchildren, Emmet Bracken, Laurel Bracken, Eleanor Bracken and Taylor McDaniel; and her siblings, Ruth Foster, Irene Watson, Johnny Carlton (Joy), Howard Carlton (Faye) and James Carlton.
