He is survived by: his spouse Lorene Whisnant Setzer; his sister Norma Swanson of Lenoir; his children, Caron Tucker (Michael) of Dudley Shoals, Terri Elder-Cook (David) of Bethlehem, Tim Setzer and Michael K. Setzer (Christy); his grandchildren, Corey Walden of Charlotte, Ashley Setzer (Brittany) of Ellenboro, Bradley Elder (Meredith) of Charlotte, Aaron Tucker (Deandre) of Hudson, Casey Walden (Whitney) of Troutman, Ethan Elder (Brooke) of Bethlehem, Cody Walden, Parker Cook of Bethlehem, Nikki Icard (Jason) of Taylorsville, Jordyn Mundy (Justin) of Taylorsville and Matysen Setzer of Taylorsville; and his great grandchildren, Ryleigh, Abbi, Waylen, Brody, Ella, Caine, Nolan, Emma, Chloe, Kendra, Lucas, Hadley, Easton and Owen.
