She was predeceased by: her spouse George Herman Sykes; her parents, William W. Carden and Clara Murchison Carden; and her siblings, Mozelle Large, Carnell Flynn, Dace Carden, Garfield Carden, Thomas Carden and Erving Carden.
She is survived by: her children, Georgia Terrell (Eugene) of Mebane, Cheryl Perry (Rock) of Graham and David E. Sykes of Burlington; her grandchildren, Chris Bescher (Terri), Lori Bescher Green and David E. Sykes, Jr.; her wife Wendy; her granddaughter Kristin Holt; her sister Adele Tate of Graham; and also, Emily Sykes, Casey Perry Johnston (Trent), Kristin Perry Vincent (Jonathan) and Taylor Perry.
