He is survived by: his wife Laura Gross Hanks; his daughters, Crystal Martinez-Ramos (David) of Graham and Shelia Deaton (Danny) of Snow Camp; his stepchildren, Becca James (Laura) of Kennesaw, GA and Joshua Bodeen of Chapel Hill; his brother Frank Hanks (Alice) of Burlington; and his grandsons, Jerrold Martinez-Ramos, David Martinez-Ramos, Jr., Patrick Martinez-Ramos, Tony Martinez-Ramos and Christopher James Deaton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
