It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Foster Hughes of Graham, North Carolina, who passed away on April 4, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy Richard Foster leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though Richard Foster may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Heenan Foster Hughes and Mildred Banks Hughes; and his sons, Michael Holt Hughes and Brian Rhew Hughes. He is survived by: his wife Janet Barrett Hughes; his sons, Christopher Taylor Hughes (Litsa) of High Point and Richard Foster Hughes II (Carla) of New Bern; his siblings, Holt Bickel (Bob) of Burlington and Michael Teague Hughes (Doris) of Gibsonville; and his grandchildren, Palmer Taylor and Genevieve Chrisanthi Hughes of High Point.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to the Children's Home Society of North Carolina or the American Cancer Society.
