She was predeceased by: her husband Dr. Bennie Johnston; her son Mark Johnston of Graham; her parents, Oscar Miles and Ruby Miles; and her sisters, Stasia Miles Ennis of Burlington and Barbara Miles Temple of Valdese.

She is survived by: her grandson Alex; her son Miles M. Johnston (Kelly); her granddaughters, McNeil and Noelle of Graham; her daughter Benanne Johnston Stiens (Jerry) of Graham; her grandson Carson "Alex" Stiens of Ft. Bragg, NC; her sister-in-law Sarah Graham Johnston of Graham; her sister Bernice Sellars; and also Ruby Miles.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
