He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Leigh Ray and James "Jimmy" Deese; his grandchildren, Cheyenne Ray, Evan Ray and Kristin Deese; his great grandchild Jordan Aytes; and his brothers, Gary Deese and Tim Freshwater.
