He was predeceased by: his parents, Harper Ervin Dickens, Sr. and Lucy Younts Dickens; his son Joel Dickens; his sisters, Margaret Loy, Edna Hall, Esther Louise Dickens, Catherine Dickens and Alice Jean Farrell; and his grandmother Spears.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Councilman Dickens; his sons, E. Reid Dickens and Neal Dickens (Joye); his grandchildren, Mitch Dickens (Caitlin), Makenzie Simmons (Matt), Clark Dickens (Erica) and Layna McAlister (Sam); his great grandchildren, Gracee, Easton, Lily, Griffin and Titus; and his sisters, Pricilla Brande (Laverne) and Judy Grubbs (Wilbert).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carolina Christian Church at 2030 Carolina Rd. Burlington, NC 27217.
