He was predeceased by: his wife Joyce Nichols Coleman; his parents, Vernon Coleman and Annie Street; and his siblings, Crews Coleman, Pearl Coleman and Annie Coleman.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Paylor (Charles), Victor Coleman (Maria) and Alexander Coleman (Phebe); his stepdaughters, Faye Brown (John) and Devona Lunsford (Carnell); and his siblings, Phillip Coleman, George Coleman, Samuel Coleman, Lide Coleman, Inez C. Graham and Lurlene Coleman. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
