He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Claiborne and Hadassie Foster Guthrie; and his siblings, Desmond Foster, Claiborne Guthrie, Gene Guthrie, Zenna Ray Hunley, Martha Sue Warren and Barbara Chester.
He is survived by: his children, Jamie Guthrie Hurst of Wake Forest, Dana Guthrie Seelman (Kenny) of Haw River and Scott Harden Guthrie of Haw River; his grandchildren, Nolan Hurst, Ashley Bukay Hurst (Misha), Logan Seelman and Mackenzie Seelman; his great grandchild Alex Bukay; and his siblings, David Guthrie, Velsie McAdams and Carolyn Parish. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Alamance-Caswell or the American Cancer Society.
