He was predeceased by: his parents, Hardin T. Johnson and Lily Simmons Johnson; and his brothers, Dr. Monroe Johnson and Hal Ray Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Agatha Russell Johnson; his son Jason Timothy Johnson of Durham; and his sister Virginia Dixon of Titusville, FL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AuthoraCare Hospice, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
