She was predeceased by: her parents, Hoyt Metcalf and Dora Rabb Metcalf; and her husband Freeman Knighten. She is survived by: her children, Elaine Williamson (Jerry) of Haw River, Rhonda Seelmeyer of Las Vegas and Stephen Knighten (Karen) of Burlington; and her sister Johnnie Moorefield of Burlington. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell 914 Chapel Hill, Rd. Burlington, NC 27215.
