He was predeceased by: his parents, William Harrell and Serena Peacock Everett. He is survived by: his wife Lila; his sons-in-law, Lucy Edmondson, Frank Edmondson of Edenton, NC, Ann Wood and Adlai Wood of Wilmington, NC; his grandchildren, Adlai Frances, Xavier Frances and Lila Frances; his siblings, Frances Chesson of Williamston, NC and Jim Everett of Chevy Chase, MD; and also, Larry Chesson of Williamston, NC, Carolyn Roberts of Chevy Chase, MD, Joe Frierson, Ann Frierson of Athens, GA, David Hunter and Nancy Hunter of Rome, GA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
