He is survived by: his wife Brenda West DeShong; his children, Betty Rene'DeShong Umphlett (Josh) of Greenville and William "Will" Earl DeShong III (Erica) of Durham; his brothers, Ricky DeShong (Nancy) of California and Kyle DeShong (Betty) of Newport; and his granddaughters, Hannah Garner, Adelyn DeShong, Ella DeShong and Claire DeShong.
