He was predeceased by: his parents, James Aubrey Hartzog and Mary Emma Pridgen; his wife Lelia Marie Hartzog; his son Keith Hartzog (Phyllis); and his siblings, Billy James Hartzog (Mary Tom), Betty Hartzog and Carolyn Inez Simmons (Rufus).
He is survived by: his sons, Dennis Hartzog (Kimberly) of Goldsboro and Aubrey "AJ" Hartzog (Heather) of Winterville, NC; his sisters, Kathryn Lee of Hamilton, GA and Patricia Plenk of Reno, NV; his grandchildren, Kelly Parks, Jessica Goldman, Bergen Hartzog, Cooper Hartzog, Peyton Hartzog, Kinsley Grace Hartzog, Cheyenne Hartzog, Nevaeh Smith, Taylor Waters and Luke Waters; and his great grandchildren, Cameron Parks, Jillian Goldman and Jenny Goldman.
