He was predeceased by: his wife Virginia "Jenny" James Jeanes; and his sister Treva Kennedy. He is survived by: his sons, Dale (Terry Jeanes), James (Sharon Jeanes) and Paul Jeanes (Laura Levitan); and his sister Allyce Lucas of Murrells Inlet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Opey and Jenny Jeanes Family Endowed Scholarship Fund at University of Mount Olive, PO Box 90, Mt Olive, NC 28365.
