He is survived by: his wife Peggy Riggs; his children, Nelson Riggs Jr. (Tracy) of Fremont, Scott Riggs (Mamie) of Goldsboro and Lana Smithwick (Bruce) of Pikeville; his sisters, Judy Marlene Crisp (Howard) of Washington, NC and Evelyn Folsom of Georgia; his grandchildren, Michael Riggs (Jessica), Caroline Riggs, Natalie Riggs, Jordan Riggs, Scotty Riggs, Debra Riggs, Spencer Riggs and Stuart Harris (Sarah); and his great grandchildren, Braxton, Sawyer, Blythe, Aubrey, Miller and Miles.
