He was predeceased by: his parents, Malinda E. Knights and Millard James Knights; and his brother Gene. He is survived by: his wife Dawn Anna Osborn Knights; his children, Markham, Katie and Heidi; and his sister Dorothy. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
