He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry and Lillie Highsmith Stokes; and his daughter Cynthia LaVeda. He is survived by: his wife G. Patricia; his children, Annetta Stokes Streater of Chapel Hill and John Trevor Stokes (Angela) of Huntersville, NC; his siblings, Mary Glover of Brooklyn, NY, Ernestine Grimes of New Haven, CT, Eula Jackson of Brooklyn, NY, Pearline Stokes of Brooklyn, NY, Peggy Bryant of Atlanta, GA, Christine Stokes of Fairfax, VA, Harvey Stokes of Brooklyn, NY, James Stokes and Eddie Mack Stokes of New Haven, CT; and his grandchildren, Eric Streater II (Kenya) of Seattle, WA, Adrienne Streater of Chapel Hill, Olivia Stokes and John Austin Stokes of Huntersville, NC. He is also survived by friends and relatives.
