He is survived by: his wife Doris Elizabeth Ford Nettles; his children, Joseph Nettles (Caroline) of Minnesota, Morris Rowe and Josephine Nettles of Goldsboro; his brother William James Nettles of Mississippi; his sister-in-law Bernice Ford of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Janiya and Marquail.
