It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Jo Carraway Gurley of Goldsboro, North Carolina, who passed away at the age of 76, on April 4, 2025. Though Jo Carraway may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Jo Carraway touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph S. Carraway and Dorothy Sutton Carraway; and her husband Greg Gurley. She is survived by: her children, Shannon Gurley Walker (Craig) of Winterville and Scott Gurley (Stephanie) of Pikeville; her grandchildren, Hayleigh and Joshua Walker; and her sister Betty Carraway Wells. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Rosewood First Baptist Church (562 NC-581, Goldsboro, NC 27530). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Jo's memory to Cures for the Colors, SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to the East Coast Gospel Music Association, c/o ECGMA at 2065 Woodard Road, Princeton, NC 27569.
