He was predeceased by: his parents, Nubert West and Margie Glenn Bass West. He is survived by: his siblings, George "Randy" West of Goldsboro, Larry Glenn West (Rosa) of Goldsboro and Linda Byerly (Dwight) of Goldsboro; his niece Heather Marie Johnson of Goldsboro; and his nephew Kevin Ray Byerly of Charlotte.
