He was predeceased by: his parents, Emin F. Cox and Evelyn Braxton Cox; and his wife Annette Holmes Cox. He is survived by: his sons, John (Stefanie Cox), Stanton (Melanie Cox), Brian (Natalie Cox), James (Judy Cox) and Aldon (Meredith Cox); and his grandchildren, Brett, Andrew, Hannah Evelyn, Emin, Mary Chandler, Camden, McKenzie, Elijah, Madelyn and Caroline.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Goldsboro Friends Meeting, 700 Guilford Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
