He was predeceased by: his parents, George Sutton Atkinson, Jr. and Geraldine Dawkins Atkinson; and his sister Nancy A. Brenner. He is survived by: his wife Connie Atkinson; and his children, Adelle Joyner Short (Gary), Rhonda Lynn Ward (David) and Reginald Joyner (Angie).
