It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Edgar Gurley Jr. (Goldsboro, North Carolina), who passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Gurley and Mabel Gurley; and his wife Melba Pate Gurley. He is survived by: his siblings, Letha Anderson, Katherine Ingram and Malcolm Gurley; his children, Chris Gurley (Michelle) of Goldsboro and Melanie Shackelford (Brad) of Goldsboro; his granddaughters, Courtney, Morgan, Caroline and Madison; his brother J. P. Gurley; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Morgan (Ronald) and Brenda Wooten (Jimmy).
Visitation was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Seymour Funeral Home (1300 Wayne Memorial Dr, Goldsboro, NC 27534). A funeral service was held on Monday, February 17th 2025 from 7:00 PM to 7:45 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, February 18th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Wayne Memorial Park (2925 US-117, Dudley, NC 28333).
In lieu of flowers, the family ask memorials be given to the activity fund at Sutton's Retirement Center, 4258 U.S. Hwy. 13 North, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
