He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy O'Neal Smith and Sally Blanche Carlyle Smith; his wife Kaye Vinson Smith; and his sister Ella Jean Smith. He is survived by: his daughters, Joey Ryan (David) of Pikeville and Leigh Ann Sutton (Chad) of Seven Springs; his granddaughters, Bailey Ryan, Camryn Ryan, Samantha Sutton and Megan Sutton; and his brother Bobby R. Smith (Angie) of Goldsboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
