He was predeceased by: his father Samuel Paul Carpenter Sr.; and his brother-in-law Elmer Theodore Ritenour. He is survived by: his wife Harriet Barringer Carpenter; his son Shaun Paul Carpenter (Kimberly Parker Carpenter); and his sisters, Barbara Gail Carpenter Ritenour and Wanda Kay Carpenter Jacobs (Glenn Jay Jacobs).
