He was predeceased by: his parents, Adam Franklin "Mack" Shaver and Lillie Mae Arey Shaver; his siblings, Calvin, Daniel, Frank, Edd, Irving, Raymond Shaver, Icy Ann Shaver and Mary Lou Drye; and his son-in-law Jack Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Pickler Shaver; his children, Ricky Shaver, Deborah Shaver Smith, Phyllis Shaver Kesler (Mitchell, Sr.), Sandy Shaver Honeycutt (Dale), Kim Shaver Heglar (Keith) and Karen Shaver Mayhew; his grandchildren, Mitchell Jacob "Jake" Kesler, Jr., Eric Honeycutt (Brandy), Kristen Honeycutt Sizemore (Tyler), Kody Heglar, Kayla Heglar, Ashley Mayhew Blalock (Collin), Hannah Mayhew and Landon Mayhew; and his great grandchildren, Mitchell Jacob "Trey" Kesler, III, Ezekiel Kesler, Heath Kesler, Weston Honeycutt, Clara Honeycutt and Alaina Blalock.
