He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Johnson and Viola Barefoot Johnson; his wife Greta Stewart Johnson; and his siblings, George Arthur Johnson, James Otha Johnson, Rufus Edward Johnson, Lila Mae Johnson, Lola Gray McDaniel and Shirley Faye Raines.

He is survived by: his children, Larry Norris of Godwin, NC. and Vonnie Johnson of Erwin, NC..
