He is survived by: his wife Susan Ezzell Peterson; his children, Michael Peterson of Godwin, Marcus Peterson (Lisa) of Godwin, Marjorie P. Barefoot (John Q.) of Benson and Melody P. Williams (Anthony) of Dunn; his sister Janice Peterson of Godwin; his grandchildren, Johnathon Barefoot (Corie), Madeline Baker (Earley), Austin Peterson (Maegan), Abbey Barefoot, Mikayla Peterson, Allen Peterson, Gracie Williams and Eryn Williams; and his great grandchildren, Calan Barefoot, Waylon Peterson and Braxton Baker.
