He was predeceased by: his parents, Lemuel Penley and Alma Sanders Penley. He is survived by: his wife Pamela Lee Penley; his siblings, William "Bill" Penley of Conover, Gaye Dagenhart (Earl) of Hickory and Carolyn Clay of Rocky Mount; his nephews, Earl Dagenhart III (Angie) and Wiley Clay (Hunter); and his niece Leigh Ross (Gary) of Myrtle Beach, SC.. He is also survived by six great nieces.
