He was predeceased by: his parents, Douthit Childres and Beulah Mae Carswell Childres; and his brothers, David Childres and Chris Childres of Morganton. He is survived by: his wife Kathryn Rice Childres; his children, Daphne Childres Simmons (Paul) and Matthew Childres (Meghan); and his brother Allen. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
